New Creation Generation International Incorporated (NCGI) has an administrative base in the Lower Hudson Valley area of New York State, United States of America, and is incorporated in the State of Florida, USA, as a charitable non-profit organization.
NCGI, formerly New Creation, is an international intergenerational community of worshippers with Jamaican roots. The group has an eclectic and versatile sound, a fusion of various musical genres.
New Creation was birthed at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus, as a fledgling group of 3 young ladies and two young men who tentatively offered their personal interpretation of You Needed Me, written by Randy Goodrum and sung by Anne Murray, during the UCCF (Universities & Colleges Christian Fellowship) Prayer Breakfast, Easter 1979. Over the years, the group expanded to include other singers and musicians and developed into a family of friends, well-known for its signature harmonious sound.
In its first three decades of ministry, New Creation was a regular feature at major annual religious events such as Alleluia festivals, Sunbeat, Genesis and Deeper Life Ministries’ Charismatic Teaching Conference. They worked particularly closely with UCCF and Youth For Christ ministering in secondary and tertiary institutions. The group also partnered with various local and international organizations such as Kiwanis, Women’s Aglow Fellowship, Woman Inc., Teamwork Associates, Rotaract Club and Jaycees in performances to aid schools and outreach ministries. New Creation went on to perform by invitation for Prime Minister Michael Manley at his birthday celebration in 1990 and in that same year was nominated for a prestigious JAMI (Jamaica Music Industry) Award for Best Gospel Album for its premier album, Always. In 2000, while dormant, New Creation was honored with Jamaica’s Honeycomb Award for significant contributions to the development of Jamaican Gospel Music in the 20th Century.
After several years of ministry together, the group dispersed to various locations worldwide, but always remained connected. During March 2010, New Creation members met on retreat in Jamaica, converging from the USA (Florida, Michigan, New York, Oklahoma), United Kingdom, Panama, and within Jamaica in response to a stirring in their hearts regarding God’s word to them from decades earlier. Following that gathering, the group adopted a new name, NEW CREATION GENERATION INTERNATIONAL, and committed to resuming corporate ministry in fulfillment of the purpose of God for their lives and to impart His message of hope, reconciliation, community and worship on a global platform.
Since this decision, NCGI ministry teams have performed in The Republic of Panama, in several States across the USA, hosted a home worship group in the United Kingdom and continue to do more. In 2012, replete with their children ably ministering among their ranks, NCGI returned to Jamaica to participate in Fun in the Son as part of Jamaica’s 50th Anniversary Independence Celebrations and to officially relaunch their corporate ministry on home soil.
